Tau’s Restaurant

Tau’s opened in Karachi in 2017 as a one-stop shop for desi cuisine and catering. It has become popular in Karachi and in Islamabad. Now it has its first international stop in Dubai. I am not really an expert in this cuisine so my judgment may not be accurate. The place is small but clean. Service is friendly. The menu is wide featuring Starters, Barbecue, Karahi Specials, Rolls and Breads, Rice and Desserts. karahi is a type of thick and deep cooking pot that originated in the Indian subcontinent. It is used in Indian, Afghan, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Nepalese and Caribbean cuisines. Traditionally press-formed from mild steel sheet or made of wrought iron. A karahi resembles a wok with steeper sides. I found the food to be tasty with proper balance of cooking. I opted for mild level of spicy was just suitable for my taste.I need to come again to try more dishes. One of the problems of being a solo diner is that you need to order a few items to be able to give a good judgement on the overall restaurant, but then you find the waiter asking you whether this food is for takeaway or not. And when you answer that it is not for takeaway he gives you this look saying “are you really going to eat all of this food” without literally saying these words. So I still need to come again to try more items for example, the dal which I didn’t try this time."
