Joonam
Joonam, a new addition to the #iranian restaurant scene in #dubai. The name “Joonam” means my soul and is normally used in an intimate way similar to “roohy” in Arabic or to “canım” in Turkish. It enjoys beautiful view over the sea and the fountain. The menu is classic with the usual suspect items; Kashk-e Badenjan, Mast wo Khiar, Kobeedeh, Ghormeh Sabzi and the likes. Some items have a twist. For example, the Doogh was not the traditional one served in many Iranian restaurants, but home made spiked with rose water. Not to the likes of everyone, but I personally enjoyed it. The starters outshined the mains in my opinion. So the less positive feelings were coming from the taste of some dishes which missed the finesse and balance particularly the #kebabs. I left satisfied but not convinced, with mixed feelings. The potential and the ambition to deliver outstanding food is visible and tangible. The restaurant has recently opened, so it definitely worth a second visit, at least try other dishes.
