Choumicha
Choumicha is chef Choumicha Chafay’s second venture after Bab Al Mansour, and like its predecessor, it focuses on Moroccan cuisine. However, it’s difficult to see what sets this new restaurant apart, aside from a puzzling policy: guests are charged a non-refundable fee upon reservation. A rare practice even among top-tier restaurants globally. The decor is contemporary and doesn’t seem to reflect the Moroccan heritage. The menu is simple and divided into clear sections. You will find all the classic Moroccan dishes like Zaalouk Salad, Briouates, Tagine and Coscous. While the food itself was genuinely enjoyable, the service left much to be desired. Staff were unaware of our reservation, and we waited 20 minutes before anyone approached our table. Orders were mixed up — our chicken dish went to another table, and we were offered a beef substitute we hadn’t requested. Later, we discovered one of our mains hadn’t even been entered into the system. Choumicha has good potentials but they need to fix the front of house issues.
