Berenjak UAE
Brenjak. In its first international outpost of the original from Soho, London, Berenjak has opened in Dubai. The decor is charming reflecting Persian culture and with chandeliers hanging overhead. The menu is clear and easy to follow. The cuisine is supposed to be centred around Iranian dishes, but it has certain items which may confuse you. For example, the corn dish called Balal. You may find it in Latin American restaurants, but I’ve never seen it before in an Iranian restaurant. Same applies the Hummus. They serve three types of bread, I ordered them all to try and all of them were excellent. Two were buttery while the Taftoon is made of sourdough but light and fluffy with a crispy crust. The starters were all very good and tasteful. We ordered KASHK E BADEMJOON, Mast O Khiar and Mirza Ghasemi. We liked them all. Note that the feta cheese dish which is normally served complimentary is a paid dish here.Unlike other Iranian restaurants in Dubai, the kebabs come in a single portion. We ordered the Koobideh which was very good, but a bit on the salty side. The saffron rice was perfectly cooked with a light crust on the top.The desserts on the other side, were disappointing. We ordered the baklava, which was dry and the cream caramel, which texture was very light. I need to come again to try more dishes. You will not find a few of the classic Iranian dishes like the Tah Deeg or the Falooda.Service was very good. And they don’t accept cash nor Amex.
