The Verdict
Maido, named the world’s best restaurant in 2025. Led by chef Mitsuharu Tsumura. The restaurant takes its name from a Japanese phrase used to greet people: maido. The offering here is Nikkei cuisine; a mixture of Japanese techniques with Peruvian ingredients. Guests have a choice of à la carte or testing menu. Some of the “twists” didn’t make much sense. For example, adding pistachio to the ceviche, innovative but why. Enjoyable, but not memorable. A very good restaurant but overrated to be #1. The dining area is modern, cozy and simplistic. Service was professional and polished.
