The Verdict

Kai Enzo, the newest addition to the culinary collection of Chef Izu Ani.Chef Izu has a portfolio that includes some of the city’s popular restaurants, including Alaya, Carine, Eunoia by Carine, Gaia, La Maison Ani and Piatti. My concern lies in the similarity of Chef Izu's menus across his various establishments. Expect to encounter the same dishes with slight variations in labelling and sometimes even without that. Kai Enzo attempts to differentiate itself with the incorporation of Japanese fusion cuisine.Stepping into Kai Enzo, one is greeted by a chic and elegant interior. Inside the restaurant, there’s a sushi bar, while the outdoor space flows seamlessly from the indoor area, creating an inside-out feel. Now, let's dive into the heart of the matter. The menu is more focused on fusion Japanese (remember Zuma). Kai Enzo is supposed to create a concept that brings together the essence of Japanese and Mediterranean cuisines. Unfortunately it falls short of delivering on both cuisines. The beetroot salad lacked the vibrant taste it promised. Likewise, the curry bun, despite its potential, succumbed to an overwhelming saltiness that detracted from its overall appeal. The Maki Toro Negi, with its lackluster presentation and flavor profile, failed to captivate and satisfy. The grilled squid was so rubbery that it was not edible. While the Seabreem Filet was decent, it lacked the crave-inducing qualities we had hoped for. Overall, the dishes lacked finesse and balance, failing to reach the lofty standards we had expected. The signature Hokkaido ice cream reminded my of the famous ice cream in Cipriani. Regrettably, I must admit that not a single dish at Kai Enzo left a lasting impression or beckoned us for another bite.
