Aragawa, Japan’s finest Tajima beef specialist for over 50 years, now open in the heart of Mayfair. Aragawa in Mayfair opened in October 2023. The original Aragawa in Kobe dates back to 1956. In Japan The family since separated, have two branches Kobe (original) and Tokyo. Consumption of beef in Japan started only in 1872, when Emperor Meiji of Japan publicly ate beef for the first time; previously cattle were used only as draught animals. The source in Aragawa is Tajima Heifer Wagyu cows, also known as Japanese Black, 28 to 40 months of age with each month the level of fat marbling in the steak increases. The menu has an option of signature tasting as well as a la carte. The steak is simple and minimalistic but outstanding.
