The Verdict

Taste by Thomas Bühner, Istanbul, Turkey. From the chef behind the three-Michelin-star La Vie restaurant comes Taste in the newly opened boutique hotel Ailee in Tersane. The restaurant offers two seatings; at 7 and at 9. Seating is limited to 9. The restaurant offers a set menu of seven courses of French cuisine. “The tasting menu is fixed and cannot be personalized. Not suitable for guests with vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, allergy-related or non-alcoholic preferences” which seems a bit rigid. In all restaurants around the globe that I have visited, including three Michelin stars fine dining, they do cater for preferences and individual needs. After declining my first reservation they did an exception for me. The serving is fine dining style of a small bites. The curry ice cream and potato foam was really creative and seriously delicious. If you are looking for a different restaurant, other than the usual serve in Istanbul then this is your place.
