The Verdict
Astrid y Gastón, situated in a charming 300 year old colonial mansion. This is the flagship of the godfather of modern Peruvian cuisine, Gastón Acurio and his wife Astrid Gutsche. The restaurant offers a choice of a la carte as well as tasting menu. The focus is on traditional Peruvian dishes—such as guinea pig or ceviche—with modern techniques. The food was creative and tasteful although one or two dishes were over salty for my taste. First time I try Guinea pig which seems to be a delicacy in South America. The service was warm and attentive.
