Il Leone Mastrantonio, Cape Town, South Africa. The ambience is warm and traditional, with a relaxed, slightly old-school Italian feel. The restaurant was pleasant but nothing particularly special. The Cacio e Pepe was much more peppery than the traditional preparation, which overpowered the dish. However, as with many restaurants in South Africa, the service was excellent, friendly, attentive and professional.

Arum, Franschhoek, South Africa. Set on the Boschendal Estate, Arum offers a beautiful farm setting which creates a relaxed yet refined atmosphere. The restaurant is part of the FYN Group, founded by chef Peter Tempelhoff, whose flagship restaurant, FYN in Cape Town, has earned international recognition. The menu is centred on seasonal, farm driven ingredients cooked over fire. It well worth the visit. Dishes were creative and delicious. Desserts provided a satisfying finish to the meal. This was our best meal in South Africa. Service is warm, knowledgeable and polished.

Baía Seafood Restaurant, Cape Town, South Africa. The restaurant has a dining room with panoramic views over the V&A Waterfront. The menu focuses on seafood with a Portuguese influence. The food was enjoyable, but not memorable. Desserts were on stronger side. Service was a bit pushy to choose certain items.
