Yava is named after Jaffa which is a city in Palestine famous for its oranges. The restaurant presents to serve Levantine cuisine. I was surprised to see pasta and pizza on the menu! This is something that I don’t understand in some of Dubai’s restaurants lately. They present a particular identity but they they are all over the place and become a buffet style restaurant. To be fair the manager said they serve Mediterranean cuisine. The food took me by surprise and was very good. Bread was served warm. Olive oil paste was very delicious. Chef Olcay Hanci has done an exceptionally good job. The standout dish for me was the Kebbeh; different but one of the best I tried in Dubai. The other standout dish was the lamb shank with orzo. The meat was tender and tasty, but it was served with risotto instead of the rice made it heavy. I will definitely come back to try other items. Overall rating is Very Good.
