The Food Advocate rates restaurants based on different criteria, Taste, Quality of ingredients, Creativity, and Presentation. We are focused on food, a restaurant’s ambience, service quality, interior decor and meal price aren’t included in The Food Advocate’s ratings. You can find more information about The Food Advocate here , or contact us if you have any suggestions or feedback.

Because of our focus on food, a restaurant’s ambience, service quality, interior décor and meal price doesn’t in general contribute to its rating (although they may be noted in the review).
Of utmost importance. Taste can be a subjective, hotly debated topic, but most diners can agree when food is delicious.
At some restaurants there may be no creativity in the food itself, but the high quality of ingredients enhances the taste.
An imaginative chef will mix different ingredients, different types of ethnic cuisines, and bring them together in a fresh and interesting way
When food pleases your sight as well as your stomach, it enhances your entire dining experience.

Here are the ratings

An exceptional experience and a rare find. All three of our criteria have not only been satisfied but surpassed; the quality of ingredients is exceptional, the mastery of flavour and texture is almost unrivalled, and the food delivers the unmistakable signature of the chef. Make sure you visit at least once in your life.

Love at first bite. This unmissable eating experience – whether fine dining, casual, pop-up or experimental – delivers food of superior quality, along with flavours and textures that you just don’t taste every day. The Food Advocate will definitely visit again, and we strongly advocate that you take your taste buds along.

Truly an experience to savour. Our ‘Very good’ rating means you can expect food with either fresh flavours, textures or surprisingly delicious combinations that you won’t forget. Even if it’s off the beaten path, or a little out of your way, we can vouch that it’s certainly worth a visit.

Our ‘Good’ rating denotes a pleasant experience for The Food Advocate. It’s obvious that care is taken with the food, from its provenance to its combination of flavours and attention to detail. While this one is more of an ‘everyday’ type of positive dining experience, you won’t be disappointed that you went.

Unfortunately, you can’t expect anything special or notable about an eatery that receives our ‘Average’ rating. Although it may float other diners’ boats, it didn’t impress the Food Advocate one bit, and we don’t recommend you visit this restaurant in its current incarnation.

A ‘Poor’ rating means the overall standard isn’t what The Food Advocate expects from a dining experience. Not enough care has been taken to ensure the food is of good quality, and the flavour combinations and textures just don’t work very well. We hope this establishment can raise their standards in future. In the meantime, avoid.
