Yek

In brief, a tourist trap and in big way. I have been coming regularly to Turkey and always admired it’s restaurants. The worst experience was Yek. The place is charming and has a beautiful scenery. The problem started with our waiter. We wanted to order few starters to share and then everyone chooses his main course. The waiter utterly refused and insisted that he will order the starters and appetizers for us. We spent 10 m arguing and he insisted that he has already arranged the appetizers for us!!! Finally we gave up and accepted that he chooses the appetizers as we didn’t want to continue in a meaningless argument. As expected, the order was too much for us plus there were some items that were not to our like. Then came the mains. Unfortunately not a single dish was memorable or even tasteful. Food was either bland or totally tasteless. One of our group had ordered the beef and it came almost burnt. When we asked why it was well done the answer was we thought this was better for you. The meat was hard and chewy. When we can to the desserts they had 3 items on the menu and we asked for 2 of each item. Again the waiter insisted that this is not enough and tried to push us to order more which we refused. He got angry and threatened that he will not bring an item if we liked it and we wanted more!!! We sticked to our order and when he finally brought it he once again insisted that this is not enough and we should order more. In fact he even brought a fourth dessert that was not on the menu and we didn’t order. Of course we ended up and a heavy bill. Once the order was given no one came to check on the table; for example the water was finished and no one came to add more. Poor service, poor manners and bad food. My Overall rating is Poor.
