Imad Alarnab was a was a successful chef and restaurateur in Damascus. He ran restaurants in the city alongside cafés and juice bars. In the war, Imad's restaurants were destroyed and he was forced to flee the country. Imad burst onto the London restaurant scene five years ago with a series of charity events that became popular. Imad's Syrian Kitchen is his first permanent restaurant, located in Carnaby's Kingly Court. The place is a small and was parked when we came for lunch. The menu is short and to the point. On the left are small plates starters and on the right are the main courses. The dishes range between an excellent crunchy Falafel and the average Hummus that needs enhanced flavour (lemon) and better texture (it was hard). Same applies to main courses. Some were tasteful while others were bland. I felt that the dishes were tweaked to fit the westerner’s taste. So if you are coming from the Middle East you may not be so much pleased. The Desserts needs improvement. The baklava was less than average and the ice cream was disappointing. Overall rating is Good.
